Nevada Democrat Jacky Rosen raised nearly $7.1 million in the third fundraising quarter in her bid to unseat Republican Sen. Dean Heller, doubling her haul the previous quarter.

The freshman congresswoman ended Sept. 30 with $2.6 million on hand, according to fundraising numbers provided first to Roll Call. Her campaign noted that more than 95 percent of contributions have been donations of $100 or less with an average contribution of $54.

Rosen outpaced the Senate candidates in the Silver State at the same point in the 2016 cycle. Democrat Catherine Cortez Masto, who went on to win that November, raised $5.3 million in the third quarter of 2016, while her Republican opponent, Rep. Joe Heck, raised $2.6 million.

“Nevadans are ready for a senator who can be trusted to stick to her convictions and do what’s right for hardworking families, and that’s why the momentum is on our side in the final stretch of the campaign,” Rosen campaign manager Danny Kazin said in a statement, adding that the Democrat has received donations from every county in Nevada.

Heller faces a tough re-election battle this year as the only Republican senator running in a state that backed Hillary Clinton in 2016. Clinton won the Silver State by 4 points. Inside Elections with Nathan L. Gonzales rates the race a Toss-up.
